It's only a little story truly, about in addition to other things: a young lady, a few words, an accordionist, some over the top Germans, a Jewish clench hand contender, and a considerable amount of burglary. . . .

Set amid World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's notable new novel is the tale of Liesel Meminger, a foster young lady living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a pitiful presence for herself by taking when she experiences something she can't resist–books. With the assistance of her accordion-playing temporary father, she figures out how to peruse and offers her stolen books with her neighbors amid shelling assaults and in addition with the Jewish man covered up in her storm cellar before he is walked to Dachau.

This is an extraordinary anecdote about the capacity of books to encourage the spirit.
